About the Artist

Aliona Varney was born in 1989 in Chișinău, Moldova. She graduated from the Polyakov Art School in 2003 and continued her studies in art and design at the Technical University of Moldova, completing her education in 2012. That same year, she relocated to Houston, Texas, where she currently lives and works.

A representational painter, Aliona focuses on capturing light, atmosphere, and mood—whether painting landscapes en plein air or still lifes in her home studio. Her work is rooted in direct observation and driven by a desire to convey the quiet poetry of everyday scenes. She has studied with numerous contemporary artists whose work she deeply admires, and her artistic journey continues to evolve through a commitment to strengthening technical mastery while exploring personal expression within the representational tradition.

“As someone with a deep passion for traditional arts and art history, my mission is to cultivate an appreciation of beauty in the public eye through representational art, with a primary focus on mastery of skill and the poetic expression of timeless themes.”
